Trends We Loathe | Boucle

I’ll never understand the desire to make a piece of furniture look like the fabric is already pilly. Why? What for? Not our cup of tea. And not to mention, the color we see evvvverywhere is white and there is nothing more aggravating than a white couch. Is it because I have dogs and small children? Probably. I loathe unpractical furniture trends that 90% of households cannot participate in.

Okay, that’s the end of the soapbox. So what’s the solution? When you’re looking for modern couches to add texture and warmth to the space, we’ve got a few ideas to get you started.

  1. Bring On the Velvet

You can rip velvet out of our cold, dead hands! This material is easy to clean, soft, luxurious, and delightful to look at. There will never be a regretful velvet purchase in our eyes!

  1. Chesterfield sofas

Chesterfield sofas may not meet the ‘modern’ criteria, but when done well, they inevitably add character, detail, and texture to a room. Between the curved arms, puckered back, and occasional nail head trim there’s a lot to love about these oldie but goodies.

3.Knit Throws & Pillows

We can’t all blow our budget on a new couch, so how do we upgrade what we have aaaand get the effect of boucle? May I suggest, knits! Is this photo not dripping with interest? Layer in some patterns and we’ve got a winner, pals.

Whew, glad we got that out of the way. So many different ways to get the effect of boucle without having to purchase it (and regret doing so after a night with red wine, or a rainy day with your pup). Let us know if we missed the mark or if you have any other suggestions!
